Merelda Fiddler created "Fiddler's Map" an exploration of the places and history that Métis people hold dearly to their hearts. Fiddler combines personal history with visual imagery (photographs, paintings by Frances Anne Hopkins, maps) and film clips to explore her own struggles with her identity as a Métis, half-breed and Indian. She explores her sense of loss of her Métis identity when her family separated and how she reclaimed this through doing research, and conducting interviews with those in her community. Merelda says that she is "charting her own map" telling her story of how she has come to understand her own Métis identity. Throughout the film, there is a joyous fiddle tune compelling you to keep watching.
